Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results under its own practices. Hampshire County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Every time a page on this site loads, our servers pick up some technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure aggregate use, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Hampshire County court dockets or personal case information. It publishes general directions to WVPASS, MCR, and the court clerks that hold official records. Nothing collected from visitors is assembled into a report about another person. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and disclosure practices apply to information submitted there, and this policy does not control those services. Review the provider's policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to clerk of court pages, trial court portals, statewide case-search systems, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards protect collected data. No internet service can promise absolute security, however, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when required and reasonably possible.
Your Data Rights
Applicable state or federal law may provide added rights concerning personal data. West Virginia Code ยง51-4-2 and Trial Court Rule 10.04 govern access to official judicial records, not the visitor analytics described here. Subject to law and technical limits, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A replacement takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
